South Africa

South Africa strives to be malaria-free by 2018. While malaria is endemic to three out of nine regions, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal, there are rising concerns that South Africa will not meet its 2018 goal. Since 2014, there has been a marked increase in the malaria incidence rate. Successful malaria elimination strategies will require a variety of approaches based on the different endemicity rates region to region.
